Its type of headache only but characterized by recurrent attacks of Headaches. These headaches may vary from moderate to severe. Typically, the headaches affect one half of the head.These headaches are pulsating in nature, and last from 2 hour to 72 hours.
Associated symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light, sound, or smell.
Some people experience a specific warning ‘aura’ or signs such as weakness in one side of the body, flashing lights, numbness and blind spot in one eye. An aura can mimic the symptoms of stroke and can be extremely frightening, especially for people who never had an aura before.
Treating by Ayurveda :-
As per Ayurveda The migraine is caused due to imbalance in Tridoshas. Depending upon imbalanced Dosha Migraine can be of three types :-
Vata imbalanced migraine:- It is caused due to Constipation, Gastric.
Pita imbalanced migraine:- It is caused due to severe Acidity or Hyper Acidity
Kapha imbalanced migraine: It is caused due to blockage of nose or sinusitis ; With a sinus headache, you’ll feel pressure around your eyes, cheeks, and forehead, and you may think you have a sinus infection
- Emotional triggers: Stress, depression, anxiety, excitement, and shock
- Physical causes: Tiredness and insufficient sleep
- Excess Travels like Jet Lags
Line of Treatment in Ayurveda :-
- The treatment for migraine headaches are completely dependent upon the type imbalanced Tridoshas i.e. Vata , Pitta , Kapha.
- Shodhan – Purification Panchkarma Procedures like Nasyam , Shirodhara, Shirovasthi , ShiroPichu
- Shaman herbal medicines given according to Imbalanced Dosha.
- Nidaan Parivarjan – Dietary Recommendations
- Typically for Vata Migraine /Shirashool – Basti/Enema , Pitta Shirashool – Virechan , Kapha Shirashool – Vamana is recommended
Parkinson’s disease symptoms include muscle rigidity, tremors, and changes in speech. It develops because of aggravation of Vata Dosha in the nerves in the brain. Aggravated Vata Dosha can dry up the nerves with adverse affects.
Modern Medicine techniques do not offer any proper Cure for this disease but it just offers symptomatic treatment to suppress the symptoms.
- Tremors or shaking of Hands or fingers.
- Stiffness or Rigidity in muscles.
- When walking, patient cannot turn at once
Causes of Parkinson’s :-
There is no formally known reasons for the exact cause of Parkinson’s disease. The trouble starts in some of brain cells. In brain, cells that make the chemical dopamine start to die. Dopamine has an important job to do. It acts like a messenger that tells another area of your brain when you want to move a part of your body
When dopamine levels decrease, it causes abnormal brain activity, leading to symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
Decoctions to balance of Vata Dosha is given; later the decoctions should have nutritious or rejuvenating value.The decoctions contain masha (Undu) – Phaselolusradiatus, Babila – Sidacordifolia etc.
Following treatments are also given depending on the patient’s condition.
- ShiroAbhyangam – Head Massage
- Shareera Abhyanga (special head and body oil application)
- Shirodhara (Special flow of oil on 3rd eye)
- Shiro Vasthi (Keeping oil over the head with the help of special cap)
- Nasyam (drops inhaled through the nose)
Depends on the severity and complications of the disease. If in early stages, disease can be retarded, and symptoms can be controlled.
Minimum period of treatment in order to see improvements should be more than four weeks.
Sleep apnea means disturbed sleep, It is serius sleep disorder. If there is loud snoring and feel tired after full night’s sleep it indicates, you have sleep apnea.
According to Ayurveda it can be due to Vata and Kapha imbalance.The most common symptoms are:

Shiro means “head,” and dhara means “dripping oil , The name comes from the Sanskrit words shiro (head) and dhara (flow). Shirodhara is based on the principle of invigorating the mind and bringing oneness in the body. Shirodhara is a Ayurveda therapy involves continuous pouring of decoction oil over the forehead (the ‘third eye’) and allowing it to flow over the scalp, using a special instrument dhara-yantra.
Best results can be achieved by first doing Snehana or Abhyangam. This soothes the body and mind, preparing you to receive the healing.
Shirodhara oils contain herbs such as ashwagandha, brahmi/gotu kola, and bhringaraj. whch has qualities to balance the mind and body. The type of oil to be used depends upon the Tridosha to be balanced.
Treatment is quite useful for mental stress, anxiety, eye diseases, graying of hair, neurological disorders, memory loss, insomnia.
To get the best results from therapy, please avoid using mobile phone for watching texts/video etc for half hour. And it’s best to keep the head covered for a half hour with the old towel or cloth etc . If you can wait, wash your hair the next day.
Shiro means Head and Leapm means applying the herbal paste. Shirolepam (Thalam) is a treatment process in which herbal paste is applied over the scalp, and retained for 45- 60 minutes. It is quite effective in neurological and psychic disorders, insomina and certain types of skin disorders, premature greying and hair-falling.
First of all, massage is done on head and face. Then herbal paste is applied to the scalp. This herbal paste helps in reducing the greying of hair. It relaxes the head from most of the pains.The fabrication of paste varies from person to person.
