Self Defence Against Chickengunya

With the change of weather chikungunya fever is getting quite common now a days.  We keep hearing on daily basis that the cases are increasing day by day. One of the prime reason for this problem is our lower levels of immunity.

Chikungunya and Dengue caused by the mosquito bite.In Ayurveda Chikungunya is known as Sandhijwara which literally means “fever of the joints”. It may last for few weeks and even up to a year.

In modern medicine, there is only symptomatic treatment for this fever like Paracetamole with rest. Hence best way for us is to guard ourselves against virus. Which means to fight against this viral infection, improve immunity with this he/she can fight against the virus and can recover soon.

Ayurveda suggests us many ways to improve upon our immunity, and these can be even taken by any normal healthy person or who has already suffered the viral attack.

  • Decoction of Tulsi and Giloy is very good antipyretic for long term fever.
  • Ashwagandha helps to boost the immunity and gives energy as well.
  • Coconut water is very effective.
  • Ayurvedic oil based therapies like massages (Potli, Pizhichil) play an important role to release the toxins. This also reduce the inflammation as well as pain in joints.
